In 2018, that vision became reality.
The company's mission, operational philosophy, and proprietary
intellectual property were formally documented, and Afri-Tel Networks & ISP
Services (Pty) Ltd was incorporated. From the very beginning, the company was
designed to be more than a conventional Internet Service Provider.
It was
established as a technology-driven organisation focused on research,
innovation, infrastructure development, and long-term digital transformation
across Africa.
As part of building a solid foundation for sustainable growth, Afri-Tel secured its trademark, obtained the necessary telecommunications licences,
established infrastructure presence with rack space at Teraco, and obtained
Internet number resources through AFRINIC.
These milestones positioned the
company to operate its own network infrastructure while maintaining full
control over the quality and scalability of its services.
Today, Afri-Tel operates as a fully functional Fibre
Network Operator (FNO) and Internet Service Provider (ISP) in
selected regions of South Africa. Beyond delivering high-speed broadband
services, the company designs, builds, owns, operates, and maintains advanced
fibre optic infrastructure while also providing Build, Operate and Transfer
(BOT) solutions for both public and private sector clients
